York University in Canada announced emergency bursary for students. Novel coronavirus pneumonia is designed to help undergraduates (local students and international students) who have unexpected financial difficulties due to the new crown pneumonia outbreak from March 1, 2020 to April 30th.
Application deadline: May 31, 2020
Scholarship amount: up to 1500 Canadian dollars

Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
All undergraduate students (local and international) who have signed up for autumn and winter courses in 2019-2020 and 2020 winter courses have been enrolled. Graduate students can apply for emergency grants through the Graduate School (FGS).
Emergency grants will help students in accommodation, living, health care and medical expenses, as well as other special situations:
1. accommodation
a. Local rent that students are unable to pay due to the outbreak.
b. Unexpected expenses incurred by international students staying in Canada due to travel restrictions and the closure of their borders.
2. meals
Additional food and living costs due to epidemic related measures.
3. Health care and medical expenses
Medical expenses related to new coronavirus covered by OHIP, uhip and YFS are exceeded.
4. Other information
a. Students who have to extend / violate their rental agreements or make other living arrangements due to the epidemic will receive additional accommodation and living expenses (rental agreements and rental receipts are required).
b. Extra transportation.
c. Additional family and childcare costs.
How to apply:
a. The applicant must fill in all the contents of the form. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
b. Attach a personal statement outlining how your financial status has been affected by the outbreak.
c. Attach all relevant supporting documents, such as receipts for additional rent, unemployment certificates (e.g. employer's letter / email or employment records) and payroll for the last two times.
Approval time and receiving method:
a. York University will send the grant to your bank account by electronic transfer. The applicant must provide the bank account information to the University.
b. The assessment application time is about 3-5 working days. After approval, the bursary will be transferred to your bank account within 3-5 working days.
